The Rise and Fall of Mondays
Mondays (as a 1st grader)
The absolute best day of the week is Monday. Whole school devotions, you know? What more could I want? Mondays get an even higher score if it happens to be the day that is my turn to pick recess. Or, just once in awhile, Monday is a day off (like Labor Day) and really that’s fun too.
Mondays (as a teen)
Mondays are the worst. Whole school devotions? Gross. Don’t even try to make me happy because it’s Monday and I’ve decided they just aren’t my favorite. Maybe check back on Tuesday and see how it’s going.
Mondays (as a youth girl)
So the weekend is over. A little extra time to sleep in would be lovely, but I guess I need to be at work shortly. I’ll caffeinate and get going, meanwhile replaying the best parts of the weekend in my head. Maybe we can get a youth deal around for sometime this week, or meet for coffee, or something.
Mondays (as a teacher)
Ok. It’s Monday. Is there anything I need to tell my students for the week? Oh yes, that memory work is due Wednesday. Where’s my coffee? Found it. Yay! Someone sent leftovers home with us from lunch plans yesterday. Six more minutes til the first bell rings, so I’ll check my messages. Now the coffee’s gone, everything’s ready. I’m feeling pretty good since I’ve got most of the coffee down, plus there’s a supper invite for tonight and we’ve got a fresh start on these new light units. On top of all of this, we have whole school devotions and I love whole school devotions. But now some students have fallen prey to that contagious Monday fog… I think it’s time we all go out and make a lap around the ball diamond.
Mondays (as a homemaker)
Hello Monday. Let’s see, is it Monday? (A quick check on the laundry basket confirms that yes, it is Monday.) Alright, laundry is going, and now I’ll quick put away the extra items left out after the weekend. Mondays are so fresh- no crazy, way behind schedules that have piled up all week. You know what? This coffee would be amazing with a muffin. I’ll quick jot that down here in my planner along with the other weekly duties. Which reminds me- oh, hello meal planning. Is there enough leftovers from Sunday lunch for today’s lunch? Sure enough. I wonder if this week will be like the last one?
And the list could go on. Some of you could add on “Mondays (as a Mom)” and “Mondays (as a healthcare worker)” and on and on.. I’d be curious what feelings you have tied to Mondays.

Honestly Mondays are one of my favorite days… as a mom of littles, yes they can be overwhelming with alllllllll the weekend laundry but I love to get the house back in order and the fresh new start it brings 😅
