What You Teach
Mom=Teacher
Things a Mom teaches, some possibly without realizing, and some through many hours of trial and error -
I love you - Wash your hands - Eat, all of it - Make the house look nice because Dad is almost home - Clean your room - You are responsible - You’re not allowed to say that word - Actions may have consequences - I’m sorry - Being a woman of God is a beautiful calling - Hold the door for me, because I’m your Mama - Wipe your mouth - Keep your mouth closed - Laughter is not always appropriate, but when it is, we can all enjoy it - Cookies are baked in rows of 3 × 5 ( or however she taught you :)) - Do not track over the clean floor - Jesus matters most - Clean because it’s important to take care of what we have, not because we’re trying to be models - Wave at the neighbor - Some leftovers freeze well - We don’t have to speed - Look for ways you can help - Say thank you - Help with the dishes (boys aren’t always exempt) - Take a walk - Sharing hobbies is a way of hospitality - Wash the car - We don’t touch hot pans - Mistakes can sometimes be fixed, but not always - Dad deserves our respect - Doors aren’t meant to be slammed in frustration - Run the vent when you shower - Drink water if you’re thirsty - Singing makes most of the quarreling stop (if it doesn’t, you haven’t sang long enough) - Light a candle - Make Dad’s favorite meal often - To be unselfish is God powered, not something of myself - Dad starts the main dish because he’s our leader - Look me in the eye - Unpleasant tasks still have to be done - Invite others into your home when they stop by - Keep a few extra gifts on hand - Do not waste what could be used again (within reason) - It’s ok if we need to have an awkward conversation - Cleaning up the rooms and things we have often takes away the desire for more or new things - I’ll always love you
A mother is probably the most faithful teacher any child will have. They may not be at school when the students are, but the countless hours spent on the home front teaching matter just as much as ever. No mother is perfect. That is what she teaches most. And blessed are the children who have a mom who has been our faithful teacher, imperfect because she too is made from dust, yet perfect in God’s eyes. 💛
I admire you, mothers.
